19 May, Moscow /Eduard Pivovar - BELTA/. The fifth International Cycling Rally "Youth of Belarus and Russia - Road to the Future of the Union State" started today in Smolensk. This year's event is dedicated to the 65th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, BELTA was informed by the administration of the Smolensk region. The cycling rally is attended by 10 Belarusian and 10 Russian amateur athletes – young parliamentarians, representatives of youth public organizations and associations, teachers, scientists, and students. Their route will run through the roads of the Smolensk and Vitebsk regions. In 27 settlements where stops are planned, cyclists will hold rallies, sports festivals and concerts, and round tables to discuss issues of fostering patriotism among youth, promoting a healthy lifestyle, and problems of international cooperation in the sphere of youth policy. The cycling rally is held under the patronage of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee and the administration of the Smolensk region with the support of the Standing Committee of the Union State.-0-
