On July 6, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. Vernissages by Russian artists will mark the beginning of celebrations in honour of the 125th anniversary of Marc Chagall's birth in Vitebsk today. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent at the Vitebsk Regional Museum of Local Lore, where an exhibition of artists from St. Petersburg, "Experiencing," is opening. The exhibition features installations made of metal, paintings, and graphics by 10 young artists who have attempted to convey their experiences, inspired by the works of Marc Chagall, through visual means. The Art Museum (a branch of the Regional Museum of Local Lore) will host the vernissage "Homage to Marc Chagall" by the State Museum "Dom Burganova" (Moscow). Paintings, graphics, and sculptures are also presented here. Despite the fact that July 6 is considered Chagall's official birthday, the artist himself celebrated it on July 7. Therefore, in his hometown of Vitebsk, the most significant and interesting events dedicated to the master take place on this day. Meetings "Visiting Marc and Bella" on Pokrovskaya Street, near the artist's house-museum, have long been loved by the townspeople and guests of the city. In the anniversary year, the celebration will encompass the entire Pokrovskaya Street. A special postmark dedicated to the 125th anniversary of Marc Chagall's birth will also be cancelled here. The postmark features a portrait of Chagall by his teacher Yuri Pen and an inscription in four languages: Belarusian, English, French, and Yiddish. On July 8, Vitebsk will host the premiere screening of the documentary film "Marc Chagall. Unreal Reality," produced by Belvideo-center, and a creative meeting with the film crew and participants will take place. In the Regional Philharmonic, the ensemble of soloists "Classic-Avant-garde" under the direction of Vladimir Baidov will present the musical and theatrical production "Dreams over Vitebsk." The Israeli Cultural Centre at the Embassy of the State of Israel in the Republic of Belarus, as part of the festive events in honour of the 125th anniversary of Marc Chagall in Vitebsk, will present the exhibition "In the Footsteps of Chagall in Israel" at the Yanka Kupala National Academic Drama Theatre. After the exhibition opening, the play "Flights with an Angel" will be staged on the main stage of the Yanka Kupala National Academic Drama Theatre. The production is by Honoured Artist, laureate of the State Prize and the President of the Republic of Belarus Prize "For Spiritual Revival," Professor Valery Anisenko.-0-
