Veronika Khombak: "The fairer sex will receive special attention"

Veronika Khombak, Deputy Chairperson of the Lepel District Executive Committee, Chairperson of the district organization of the public association "Belarusian Women's Union":

— The decision to declare 2026 the Year of Belarusian Women underscores the profound role of women in society, their contribution to the family, labour, and the development of the state. It is intended to shape the national image of the working woman and popularise her role, reflecting respect for her strength, wisdom, and care. The document also aims to support motherhood and family values, acknowledging women who balance careers and child-rearing. This is an official recognition of the importance of women as the foundation of the family and society, the keepers of the hearth, and the driving force of the country.

It is very important that the President has paid due attention to women. She is not only the keeper of the home, managing the household and raising children. Many women are employed in the country's economy and work very successfully. Therefore, I consider the President's declaration of 2026 as the Year of Belarusian Women to be timely and correct. It is a kind of gratitude to women for their purpose on this earth, for all that they do: for motherhood, labour, contribution to the country's economy, public activities, their ability to support and inspire, and simply for their existence. Past years were tied to something, while this one is tied to someone. And it is gratifying that this someone is precisely women. We will draw strength and inspiration from the fact that this is our, women's, year.

As a representative of the public association "Belarusian Women's Union," I am very pleased that exceptional attention will be paid to the fairer sex. The organisation is inherently very powerful and influential, and I have experienced this myself as an organiser and participant in various events held by the BWS, including those of international level. In this special year for us, actions initiated by the BWS, such as "Mom's Pies," "We Are Not Apart – We Are Together!" and others, will be continued in the Lepel region. Undoubtedly, new projects and contests will also be launched. What is important here is not so much informational support as the energy you receive when returning from such meetings and events.
