The Lepel Inter-district Inspectorate for the Protection of Fauna and Flora informs:

According to the Rules for the Management of Hunting and Hunting, legal entities, individual entrepreneurs and citizens are prohibited from burning dry vegetation and its above-ground residues on agricultural land and land of other categories, reeds, rushes and other growths of wild plants in habitats and breeding grounds of wild animals, except in cases provided for by legislation.

Burning dry grass causes the death of clutches and nesting sites of birds. In case of a strong grass fire, almost all animals living in dry grass or on the soil surface (hares, hedgehogs, amphibians) perish. Some burn, some suffocate in smoke. Burnt bird nests with traces of eggs, burnt snails, rodents, and small mammals are very often found at fire sites. Spring burning damages trees, especially their root collar. Dry last year's grass is not rubbish, but a dwelling, a shelter, living conditions created by nature itself.

For this violation, liability is provided for in accordance with Part 3 of Article 15.37 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Republic of Belarus. Violation of these requirements entails a fine of up to forty basic units, for an individual entrepreneur – from twenty to two hundred basic units, and for a legal entity – from one hundred to one thousand basic units.

All citizens who are aware of violations of environmental protection legislation are requested to report them by calling the "hotline" at the Lepel Inter-district Inspectorate at 4 36 85.
