The Standing Committee of the Union State has held an open tender for the right to conclude contracts for the provision of services for the organisation of sanatorium-resort treatment for veterans and disabled persons of the Great Patriotic War and combat operations in sanatorium-resort organisations in 2023.
Based on the results of the tender, a contract was concluded between the Standing Committee of the Union State and a military sanatorium for the sanatorium-resort treatment of 110 people from May to November of the current year.
Thus, throughout this period, veterans of the Great Patriotic War, veterans participating in local wars and conflicts, as well as labour veterans of the Russian Federation and Belarus are undergoing treatment and recreation in our district. On August 23 of the current year, the second group of 30 people arrived: 14 from Belarus and 16 from the Russian Federation.

Igor Gennadievich welcomed everyone to the hospitable Lepel land, spoke about the sights of our region, its historical past, and, of course, the upcoming holiday – the Day of National Unity.
--The introduction of this date into the republic's commemorative calendar is a tribute to our compatriots who did not accept the injustice of the Treaty of Riga and fought for the reunification of the Belarusian people into a single national state.
The peace treaty, which concluded the Soviet-Polish War and was signed on March 18, 1921, in Riga without the participation of the Belarusian side, led to the ethnic Belarusian lands and the Belarusian people being artificially divided for almost two decades.
The unification of Western Belarus with the BSSR in the autumn of 1939 became an act of historical justice and gave the Belarusian people the opportunity to reunite again, to live and develop in a single sovereign national-territorial association.
The restored unity allowed Belarusians to withstand the fiery
years of the Great Patriotic War, to take a prominent place in the international community, and to become one of the co-founders of the United Nations.
The national holiday – the Day of National Unity – serves as an objective reminder of the self-sufficiency of the Belarusian nation and the immutability of Belarusian statehood, symbolises the continuity of all generations of the Belarusian people, fosters a sense of belonging for every citizen to the fate of the country, and strengthens societal cohesion on the path to building a strong, sovereign, and prosperous Belarus!
During the meeting, Igor Gennadievich spoke about how our district is developing, which enterprises are located within its territory, and which facilities are under construction. Many in the hall immediately noted the high quality of dairy products, having had the chance to try not only milk and kefir but also ice cream.
They also discussed unique sites in the Lepel region, including the Berezinsky Biosphere Reserve.
— The reserve is a unique natural complex, encompassing an exceptional diversity of various types of forests, meadows, and wetlands, the unique floodplain complex of the Berezina River, numerous large and small rivers, and incomparable lakes, — Igor Gennadievich explained.
During the dialogue, the topic of the Great Patriotic War was also addressed.
In a beautiful picturesque location, people of different ages and eras met, but each of them had years of the most difficult wartime behind them. It is gratifying that the Lepel region helps our heroes to distract themselves and enjoy life, despite everything.
It was heartening to see Lepel residents among the holidaymakers.
As those present noted, they are having a wonderful time on Lepel land and have improved their health. The staff here is good and well-coordinated, the attitude is polite, and the quality of medical services is high. They expressed immense gratitude for the sensitive attention to the holidaymakers. "We feel at home here; we liked everything," say the holidaymakers.
