This was stated today by the Chief State Veterinary Inspector of Belarus, Yuri Pivovarchik, at a meeting of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee during the consideration of the issue of cattle preservation in agricultural organizations of the region, as reported by a BELTA correspondent. According to Yuri Pivovarchik, the issue of preserving cattle and pig populations is currently acute for all regions of Belarus. "Each country has its own regional specifics of diseases affecting these animals, so it is better to have your own breeding stock and protect it," he emphasized, noting that there have been some positive developments in this matter. At the same time, the Vitebsk region, along with the Brest region, records the highest percentage of livestock mortality. While the latter region has begun to rapidly improve this situation, the same cannot be observed in the Vitebsk region. The Chief State Veterinary Inspector of Belarus cited egregious cases of livestock loss in the farms "Tullovo", "Lipovtsy", and other agricultural organizations of the Vitebsk region. In total, the region's economy has suffered losses of Br25 billion over nine months due to mortality and unjustified slaughter of livestock. Of this amount, only Br400 million has been reimbursed. "Who will reimburse the rest? It is time to establish order here," said Yuri Pivovarchik, demanding that all measures be taken to preserve the breeding stock, that each case of slaughter or livestock mortality be examined in detail, and, if necessary, that the prosecutor's office be involved to assess such incidents. The Chief State Veterinary Inspector of Belarus identified the main reasons for livestock loss as the lack of technology for raising young animals, inadequate work with personnel, gross violations of production discipline, low quality of feed, and most importantly, the attitude of the managers themselves and responsible employees. "Currently, in the Vitebsk region, as well as throughout the country, many large modern dairy farms are being reconstructed and built. Think about what you will fill them with given such an attitude towards animals," concluded Yuri Pivovarchik.-0-
