The interregional festival "Bethlehem Star" was held in the Lepel district for the fifth time. The hall was packed. Parents, grandparents, teachers… Each of the participants had their own support group. It seemed they were no less anxious than the performers…
This year's Christmas festival was the largest yet, bringing together about two hundred performers. Guests from Beshenkovichi, Chashniki, and Yаzno also came to the Lepel district. In the foyer, visitors could admire the children's decorative and applied arts – stained glass, rag dolls, cut-out paper angels… The children reflected the theme of Christmas not only in various stories but also in diverse techniques.
"Bethlehem Star" has become a prominent event in the district, uniting people of different generations. The festival was launched by Tamara Barokha, Deputy Head of the Department of Ideological Work, Culture, and Youth Affairs of the District Executive Committee.
Adam Kaleda, Dean of the churches of the Lepel district, Archpriest, congratulated those gathered on the Nativity of Christ.
Young performers narrated the story of the birth of the God-child Jesus into the world through songs, poems, and short plays. Choral singing and solo performances, vibrant costumes, and thoughtful details – it was evident that much time and effort had been dedicated to preparing for this celebration.
The pupils of the Sunday school of the Church of the Nativity of Christ demonstrated that humility is rewarded. In their play "Christmas," Liza Brovkina, playing a "Fir Tree," shows an example of obedience and, through her patience, becomes the main attribute of the holiday. Guests from the village of Yаzno dedicated a song titled "Golden Heart" to their spiritual mentors. Pupils from the Sunday school of the Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord instantly "decorated" the hall with colourful balls. What a gift for the youngest spectators, who were eager to become their happy owners!
Specially for the Christmas play, authentic costumes were sewn to order by Olga Pashkevich, a parishioner of the Church of the Icon of the Mother of God "Vladimirskaya." A fox, a mouse, a bunny, and even a real angel – colourful and bright characters performed the play "A Miracle for Nastya." By the way, Irina Atrashkevich, a teacher at the Sunday school, played the role of the godmother.
