30 April, Vitebsk /Olga Bogacheva - BELTA/. A Vitebsk resident has been sentenced to six months of arrest for threatening to kill his mother, the assistant prosecutor of the Zheleznodorozhny District of Vitebsk, Denis Alekseyenko, told a BELTA correspondent. For six months, the 45-year-old resident of the regional center periodically beat his pensioner mother, who lived with him. While intoxicated, he beat the woman to get money to buy another portion of alcohol. Then he apologized and promised that it would be the last time. She endured it for a long time, but the last incident, which occurred in January of this year and almost cost her her life, finally forced her to report to the police. The conducted forensic psychiatric examination found the Vitebsk resident to be sane. The court of the Zheleznodorozhny District of Vitebsk found the man guilty of committing crimes under Art. 154 (torture) and Art. 186 (threat of murder, causing grievous bodily harm or destruction of property) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus. In addition to arrest, he was sentenced to compulsory treatment for chronic alcoholism. The sentence has entered into legal force.-0-
