A Vitebsk resident chose criminal liability over a scandal with his wife: out of fear of his spouse, the man staged his own robbery, the assistant prosecutor of the Zheleznodorozhny district of Vitebsk, Evgenia Prudnikova, told a BELTA correspondent. The unemployed 23-year-old resident of the regional center told his wife that he had finally found a job. The young woman, who was expecting her husband's salary, greeted him joyfully on the significant day. However, her hopes were not to be fulfilled - she never saw the promised Br521 thousand. "I was robbed!" the husband announced from the doorstep, presenting a bruised nose and a torn jacket as proof. For greater credibility and weight of his words, the guy turned to the police. Law enforcement officers accepted the victim's statement, warning him about criminal liability for giving false testimony. If the young man, who had managed to become a father, succeeded in deceiving his inexperienced wife, he failed to deceive law enforcement officers. Soon, the real picture was fully established. For his actions, taking into account his previously "clean" biography and having a young child in his care, the man was sentenced to one year and six months of restriction of liberty without being sent to an open-type correctional institution.-0-
