7 September, Vitebsk /Olga Bogacheva - BELTA/. The open regional festival-competition of patchwork works "Zdravnevskaya palitra-2011" will be held on 9 September in Vitebsk, as reported to BELTA correspondent by the Vitebsk Regional Museum of Local Lore.
Around 60 craftswomen from Vitebsk, Mogilev regions, Minsk, Saint Petersburg and Rybinsk (Russia) are participating in the competition. Among them are both established masters and artists, as well as university and college students. Almost a hundred works have been submitted for the competition, which will be judged in four nominations: "Patchwork Plastics", "Patchwork Sewing", "Costumes and Accessories", and "Art Quilt".
The competition entries can be viewed until 30 September at exhibitions in the Vitebsk Regional Museum of Local Lore (VOKM) and the Vitebsk Regional Methodical Centre of Folk Art (VOMCNT). The main events of the festival will take place on 9 September. On this day, jury members and participants will inspect the presented expositions, take part in master classes "Twisted Doll" and "Patchwork Bird", and visit the Ilya Repin Museum-Estate in Zdravnevo. An excursion around the estate and park will be held at the ancestral estate of the famous artist, along with an introduction to the non-competitive exhibition of patchwork works by craftswomen from the Polotsk folk club "Roshva", a tea party with a discussion of the competition, and the awarding of the authors of the best works.
The event is organised by VOKM, VOMCNT with the support of the Culture Department of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee.-0-
