Vitebsk will celebrate its 1038th birthday for three days, as reported to a BELTA correspondent by the culture department of the Vitebsk City Executive Committee. The grand opening of the festival "Happy Birthday, Beloved City!" will take place today and will launch several dozen entertainment, educational, playful, and even culinary events for young and adult citizens, as well as numerous guests. Along with concerts by creative groups of the city, fair trade will be organized in the streets, and attractions will be open. For the first time, in honor of the Year of Books, city libraries will present themselves not only as book repositories but also as leisure centers. Another new feature of the city festival will be a classical music concert near the walls of the Holy Assumption Cathedral. The event is unique in that this venue on the high bank of the Western Dvina will be used as a concert venue for the first time. One of the most spectacular events promises to be the evening water festival, which can be viewed from the renovated embankment of the Western Dvina. In addition to cultural workers, employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations took an active part in its preparation. The city festival will not be complete without night discos and a festive fireworks display. For the convenience of citizens, public transport will operate until three in the morning. Partners from 10 states will come to congratulate the birthday city. In addition to official delegations, they have sent creative groups to Vitebsk, who will also perform on city squares. The celebration will conclude on Monday, June 25, with an investment forum.
