A large-scale raid using an unmanned aerial vehicle will take place in December in the regional centre. Subsequently, such events will be systematically held in all major cities of the region.
According to Alexander Kazuchits, a trial run to assess the capabilities and effectiveness of this method for identifying jaywalking pedestrians was conducted in Orsha. The aerial vehicle was provided by the local TV channel "Skif". Patrols were carried out on particularly accident-prone and dangerous sections of the city. Violations recorded by the camera were promptly transmitted via radio to duty traffic police crews. As a result, over a dozen violations were identified within a few hours, the main one being pedestrians crossing the road in an undesignated place. Among the offenders were teenagers, adults, and parents with children.
"Many denied their guilt, only admitting it when shown the video recording. The attitude of parents, who are responsible for the lives of their children and yet allow such behaviour on the road, is also surprising. Meanwhile, road accidents involving pedestrians occur very frequently. Unfortunately, children often end up in these sad statistics," said Alexander Kazuchits, urging everyone to be more careful with their lives and to observe road safety rules.
