20 December, Vitebsk /Diana Kurilo - BELTA/. Deputies of the Vitebsk Regional Council at their regular session decided to request the Council of Ministers to submit a proposal to the President of Belarus on amending the borders of the Vitebsk region, BELTA correspondent reports. Presenting the draft decision, the head of the Vitebsk Regional Land Management Service, Igor Levenkov, explained that it concerns the amendment of the borders of the Orsha district of the Vitebsk region and the neighboring Shklovsky district of the Mogilev region. It turned out that the borders of the administrative territories are defined in such a way that they encroach on neighboring districts, which causes inconvenience, for example, in the cultivation of agricultural land, and leads to irrational spending of material resources. As a result of the change in administrative borders, the Shklovsky district of the Mogilev region will receive 142.93 hectares of land currently within the Zubrevichsky and Ustinsky rural Soviets, and the Orsha district will be transferred 244.45 hectares of land from the Shklovsky district. These lands are equal in fertility rating, and there are no settlements on them. According to Igor Levenkov, such an exchange will allow for the regulation of land use. In accordance with the legislation, the changes in administrative borders have been supported by deputies of rural, district, and regional Soviets and are being submitted to the Council of Ministers for presentation of the draft to the head of state for consideration. -0-
