The restoration of technological chains between enterprises of the Vitebsk and Moscow regions will become one of the main directions in the cooperation between the two regions, Konstantin Cherny, Deputy Chairman of the Committee of Economy - Head of the Investment Policy and Foreign Economic Relations Department of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, informed journalists today, as reported by a BELTA correspondent. During the visit of the Vitebsk region delegation headed by the Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee, Alexander Kosinets, to the Moscow region, the main directions of mutual cooperation were determined at a meeting with the region's governor, Boris Gromov. In particular, the two regions intend to increase mutual trade turnover to $600 million by the end of 2012, and reach the figure of $1 billion by the end of 2013. However, the regions' interests are not limited to trade alone. The creation of joint ventures, which can operate successfully within the framework of the Single Economic Space, could become one of the promising areas. As is known, science-intensive industries are concentrated in the Moscow region, which maintained close contacts with enterprises of the Vitebsk region back in the USSR years. Today, the task has been set to restore lost ties, create technological chains, and eliminate unnecessary intermediaries in trade, emphasized Konstantin Cherny. To achieve the set tasks, the parties agreed to establish working groups for the development of a cooperation agreement, which will be aimed precisely at achieving the set goals. A cooperation agreement was signed between the Vitebsk and Moscow regions in 1996, but it was of a framework nature and was not filled with specific content. According to the results of 2011, the trade turnover between the Vitebsk and Moscow regions increased by 13.1% compared to 2010 and amounted to $371.2 million. Exports of goods to the Moscow region amounted to $296.9 million, and imports - $74.3 million. The balance has consistently remained positive and amounted to $222.6 million. One third of export deliveries to the Moscow region consists of food products.
