16 July, Vitebsk /Diana Kurilo - BELTA/. The Vitebsk region of Belarus and the Lori region of Armenia signed a cooperation agreement today. The solemn signing ceremony was attended by Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Alexander Kosinets and Governor of the Lori region Artur Nalbandyan, BELTA correspondent reports.
The agreement defines the main areas of cooperation between the two regions in both humanitarian and economic spheres. "The Vitebsk region is interested in developing ties in industry and the agricultural sector," noted Alexander Kosinets. To implement the agreement, he proposed developing a plan of specific measures for all sectors, including both public and private sectors.
Artur Nalbandyan expressed confidence that the signed document will mark the beginning of mutually beneficial cooperation between the two regions. Thus, in the coming days, cooperation agreements will be signed between Vitebsk and the Armenian city of Vanadzor, and Orsha and Spitak.
The volume of foreign trade turnover of enterprises of the Vitebsk region with Armenia for January-May 2012 amounted to $456 thousand, including exports of goods - $153.1 thousand. Dairy products, electrical conductors, sawn timber, and linen fabrics are supplied to Armenia. -0-
