The Vitebsk region leads the republic in fodder procurement volumes. As reported to a BELTA correspondent by the Committee for Agriculture and Food of the Regional Executive Committee, the region has already procured approximately 13.7 centners of fodder units per conventional head of cattle.

"After the first mowings, a full aftermath has grown. With the second mowing, we plan to harvest grasses from an area of 140 thousand hectares. This will add at least another 5 centners of fodder units. And from cornfields, we expect to get around 8 centners. In total, we plan to procure 27-28 centners of fodder units per conventional head of cattle," the committee noted.

Farms in the region have already begun selective harvesting of rapeseed. The harvest in the northernmost region of the country is planned to commence in about two weeks. Grain crops occupy over 343 thousand hectares in the region.
