17 October, Vitebsk /Diana Kurilo - BELTA/. Supplies of import-substituting products by Vitebsk manufacturers to the domestic market have enabled the region to save nearly $45 million in January-September, the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee's Economy Committee informed a BELTA correspondent. Currently, enterprises in the region are producing goods in 125 categories classified as import-substituting. To saturate the domestic market with goods and increase export volumes, the production of polypropylene products, polystyrene food packaging, concentrate for dry milk substitute production, and painted PVC skirting boards has been increased – all of which were previously supplied from outside Belarus. For the first time in the region, OJSC "Trud-Vitebsk" has mastered the production of disposable sterile linen, and LLC "Polotsk Paper Company" has expanded its range of paper towels and toilet paper, which are also included in the list of import-substituting goods. In the near future, "Soyuz-kabel" enterprise plans to commence the production of steel-taped armoured cable, which will also allow domestic consumers to reduce foreign currency expenditure. In January-September of the current year, enterprises of the Vitebsk region produced import-substituting goods worth $150.5 million, which constitutes 66.1% of the annual target. The total export value of these products amounted to $75.6 million. In fact, 67.4% of the produced volume of import-substituting goods is sold abroad. -0-
