On October 10, Borovukha / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. The Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee and the deputies of the regional council have decided to allocate Br200 billion for the training of the region's athletes for the Olympic Games in Sochi. This was announced today at the solemn ceremony of opening the ski-roller track at the Novopolotsk State School of Olympic Reserve by the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Alexander Kosinets, reports BELTA correspondent. Along with strengthening the material and technical base of the Novopolotsk school, it is planned to create a sports base in the Gorodok district for the training of athletes in winter sports. "Sport is not only a factor of health, it is also an important component of foreign and domestic policy. When the flag of Belarus is raised over the stands and the country's anthem is played, it is evidence that the country pays great attention to socio-economic development and forms human capital," emphasized Alexander Kosinets. Along with high-performance sports, the region pays close attention to the development of mass physical culture. This year, sports complexes have started operating in several district centers of the region, and the construction of the Ice Palace in Orsha is nearing completion. In Polotsk, a sports base is planned to be built on an area of 10 hectares in a residential microdistrict. -0-
