"According to preliminary data, in the first half of 2022, goods exports in the Vitebsk region grew by almost 1.5 times and amounted to $1.54 billion. Of this, CIS and EAEU countries accounted for $660 million and $617 million respectively, with supplies to the Russian Federation amounting to $590 million. For the same period last year, the region exported goods worth over $1 billion," the department stated. "The import growth rate approached 140% - $2 billion. In the first half of 2021, this figure exceeded $1.4 billion."
Russia holds the first place among the countries to which the enterprises of the northern region of Belarus supply their products. As specified by the department, out of the total export volume, the neighbouring country accounted for almost 40% in January-May. The Vitebsk region exported over 36% to the European Union countries, and about 23% to others. Russia also holds the leading position in importing goods into our country – over 88%. The EU and other states account for slightly over 5% and 6.5% respectively.
The Netherlands, the United Arab Emirates, Germany, Latvia, Poland, China, Lithuania, and Ukraine also remain among the main trading partners of the Vitebsk region. In January-May, the northern region supplied goods to the markets of 74 countries and imported products from 87. In total, export-import operations were registered with 98 states.
