On August 29, Vitebsk /Sergey Kochetov - BELTA/. The Vitebsk customs officers at the Belarusian-Latvian border in the Braslav district have intercepted an illegal export of a batch of cigarettes with a preliminary estimated value of about Br1 billion, BELTA was informed by the customs service. During special operations at the "Urbany" border crossing point, customs officers, together with border guards, stopped a Volvo truck for inspection. The vehicle, driven by a Lithuanian citizen, was leaving Belarus. According to the presented documents, the vehicle was transporting synthetic fibers, with a private company from Vitebsk listed as the sender of the goods. However, the inspection revealed that the specified legal entity does not exist in Belarus. During the search of the vehicle, approximately 500,000 packs of Belarusian-made cigarettes were found to be illegally exported. Currently, the issue of initiating administrative proceedings regarding the illegal export of goods is being resolved. -0-
