Vitebsk rescuers have decided to attract the attention of young parents to child safety issues in an unusual way. Today, at the regional clinical maternity hospital, Ministry of Emergency Situations employees will conduct tests for young fathers who will be taking their children home from the maternity hospital, the Vitebsk Regional Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations informed BELTA.
Before the newborns are handed over to the new fathers, Ministry of Emergency Situations employees will offer them to complete tasks and determine how ready the young parents' home is for a child's safe living. During the event, the parents' awareness of life safety issues will also be checked. In exchange for completing the tests, parents will be awarded a diploma for completing the "Safety School for Young Fathers". "Rescuers are also preparing a colourful photo zone and unique gifts for babies and mothers. For example, newborns will receive rompers with the inscription 'I'm friends with safety' and a gift to grow into – the book 'Alphabet of Safety'. Parents will also receive educational literature from the Ministry of Emergency Situations," the regional department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations noted.
The event will continue in the institution's assembly hall. Here, a session will be held with expectant mothers, during which rescuers will give important advice and recommendations on how to prepare a safe home for a baby.
The event will take place during the Ministry of Emergency Situations' republican campaign "Do not leave children unattended!". Its aim is to draw attention to the problem of children's pranks with fire and child fatalities in fires, to reduce the number of emergencies involving children, and to ensure their overall safety at home, on the street, during recreation, at water bodies, etc.
