The regional department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations pays great attention to the development of international cooperation and constantly strengthens ties with countries bordering the region (Russia, Latvia, Lithuania). "Last year, we submitted applications for participation in international projects, three of them are currently being considered by the EU," said Alexander Klobuk. "One has a medical aspect, the second concerns cooperation during flood periods, and the third is aimed at extinguishing forest and peat fires in border areas. Some of the documents have already been signed."
The regional department continues to work on concluding international agreements on cooperation in the field of emergency prevention and response with Russian regions. For example, Vitebsk rescuers have established cooperation with their Smolensk colleagues. Joint competitions in fire and rescue sports are practiced. Similar partnerships have been established with colleagues from the Kaluga region, as well as rescuers from the Bryansk region.
