The Vitebsk State Medical University (VSMU) plans to open a research and production complex in the 2018/2019 academic year, the university’s rector, delegate of the II Congress of Scientists of Belarus Anatoly Shchastny, informed a BELTA correspondent.

The project has been developed by the university with the aim of establishing its own production. The research and production complex, comprising laboratories, is planned to be located in additional premises. Its activities will initially be related to the pharmaceutical industry (production of chemical substances). "Not only distinguished scientists but also young specialists and students will be involved in the work. In addition, we will need production professionals, and we plan to involve colleagues from the Vitebsk State Technological University and VSU named after Masherov, which will certainly yield results," noted Anatoly Shchastny.

Regarding participation in the II Congress of Scientists, the VSMU rector emphasized that he expects significant results and decisions from the forum. "Most importantly, the congress will address issues related to youth training, motivation for scientific work, and the development of university science, as it will become the driving force of all development in the future. We also expect the strategy program "Science and Technology: 2018-2040", which will be developed step-by-step and will allow us to position our science at the forefront," the rector concluded.
