On May 9, the Vitebsk Regional Museum of Hero of the Soviet Union Minay Shmyrev will offer everyone the opportunity to travel back to the times of the Great Patriotic War in a special photo zone by donning uniforms of those years. On May 9, the Vitebsk Regional Museum of Hero of the Soviet Union Minay Shmyrev will offer everyone the opportunity to travel back to the times of the Great Patriotic War in a special photo zone by donning uniforms of those years. "A large program will be organised on the museum grounds and in the Partisan Glory Park. Among other things, we plan to exhibit uniforms and attire of Red Army soldiers with a photo zone. This means anyone can try on such a costume and take a picture. We want to immerse people in history in this way, so they can see and feel themselves in that time. Some uniform elements will be authentic, while others will be reproductions based on historical sources. We also plan to organise an exhibition of weapons from the museum's collections. There will definitely be tea in dugouts and soldier's kasha," explained Irina Shishkova.
Not only the exhibitions will be interactive. Those interested will be able to participate in the city quest "Addresses of Memory". This is a historical game dedicated to places in Vitebsk associated with the Great Patriotic War period. Quest participants will receive special booklets with tasks – elements of buildings and structures, ciphers, riddles, by which they will have to guess the location.
"It will be interesting and educational. The only thing we decided to refrain from this time is the reconstruction of the events of the Great Patriotic War and Victory Day with the participation of members from the "Comrades in Arms" club. The fact is that this year marks an important date – the 75th anniversary of the opening and closing of the "Vitebsk Gates". And we plan to organise a reconstruction of these events in July or September somewhere in the city centre, near the Vitba River," added Irina Shishkova.
