The capital repair and modernization lasted for over a year. During this time, the appearance and "filling" of the educational institution, significant for the entire pedagogical community of the region, have undergone substantial changes, noted the Director of the Institute, Olga Lapatinskaya:
- We have managed to create a modern educational environment. The working classrooms are equipped with interactive panels, multiboards, and modern computers. Two conference halls have been equipped. Since 2019, a regional center for pedagogical STEM education has been operating within our walls, and based on it, a new location – a 3D modeling laboratory – has been organized this year. This will allow students and teachers of the city and the region to actively develop scientific and technical creativity, become acquainted with high-tech sectors of the economy, and form a stable motivation for choosing a future profession in the field of high technologies. Now the institute has all the opportunities for conducting events in remote mode, high-quality preparation for various competitions, as well as effective international cooperation, as we are active partners of the international network of additional education institutions and closely cooperate with many regions of the Russian Federation.
According to Dmitry Khoma, Head of the Main Department for Education of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, it has become a good tradition in the Vitebsk region to commission new facilities on the occasion of the professional holiday – Teacher's Day – whenever possible. The current event is of particular importance:
- The Vitebsk Regional Institute for the Development of Education is our main intellectual and methodological center for training and professional development of teachers. Now their training will be conducted in modern conditions. It is important for us to put in order all regional educational institutions that play a primary role in the region's education system. We are systematically moving towards this goal: in previous years, we have put the buildings of additional education institutions for schoolchildren in proper condition, and now this facility. Next, we handed over a dormitory located nearby to the institute, and in the second stage, we plan to renovate it within the next few years.
Regarding the reconstruction of other facilities within the region's education system, Dmitry Khoma noted that much has already been accomplished and this work is nearing completion:
- In the near future, the opening of a large sports stadium at the Vitebsk State Technical College is planned. Students from four nearby educational institutions will train there. It will also be open for free access to everyone.
As part of the event, an award ceremony for the best educators in the region also took place.
