The Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee is preparing proposals for the Ministry of Education on optimizing enrollment in paid education for specialties that are not in demand on the labor market. The corresponding instruction was given today at a meeting of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee by its Chairman, Alexander Kosinets, BELTA correspondent reports. According to the Education Department of the Regional Executive Committee, the region annually requires a significant number of graduates from vocational and secondary specialized education institutions for agricultural enterprises - 955 and 513 respectively, construction - 1316 and 249, light industry and consumer services, trade, mechanical engineering, and transport. The additional demand for specialists with higher education in the fields of education, agriculture, construction, and mechanical engineering remains high. At the same time, the region requires a small number of lawyers and economists: 23 lawyers with higher education and 20 with secondary specialized education, 246 economists with higher education and 183 with secondary specialized education. Moreover, in the current academic year alone, six secondary specialized education institutions in the region will graduate 1868 specialists in economic specialties. For the specialty "Jurisprudence," 412 people are preparing for graduation in secondary vocational schools. Simultaneously, 3,000 people are studying the specialty "Jurisprudence" in higher education institutions in the region across all forms of study. According to Ivan Shchurko, Head of the Education Department of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, given the increase in university admissions and the consistently high enrollment in secondary vocational schools, the current trends exacerbate the problem of providing the economy with qualified workers and lead to inefficient use of labor resources and budget funds. According to the Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee, Alexander Kosinets, it is necessary to streamline the system of training specialists and workers in the region based on the needs of the region and the republic as a whole. This year, the development of the automated system "Order for Personnel Training of the Vitebsk Region" will begin in the region, which will track the prospective, current, and additional needs for specialists and workers by economic sectors at the district and regional levels. -0-
