20 December, Vitebsk /Diana Kurilo – BELTA/. The Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee has compiled a list of projects for attracting foreign direct investment in 2013, the Committee for Economy of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee informed a BELTA correspondent.
A list of projects has been formed to ensure the attraction of net foreign direct investment, meeting the government target of $145 million. With the involvement of foreign investment, the region will continue the implementation of large investment projects for the development of the production base and the construction of a transport and logistics center based on OJSC "Orsha Aircraft Repair Plant", the construction of a plant for import-substituting production of sheet metal and tinplate by OOO "MMZP-Group" with a capacity of 200 thousand tons per year in Miory District, the organization of wood pellet production in Liozno District and peat pellet production in Sharkovshchina District, peat soil in Miory District, the creation of highly efficient agricultural production facilities in Tolochin and Gorodok Districts, and the installation of equipment for obtaining landfill gas and producing electricity and heat from it at municipal solid waste landfills in Vitebsk, Polotsk, and Orsha Districts. Companies from Russia, Ukraine, the Czech Republic, Turkey, and Sweden are expected to invest capital. Within the framework of an investment agreement involving Turkish investors, RUP "Vitebskenergo" plans to implement two investment projects: "Construction of Beshenkovichi HPP with a capacity of 33 MW" and "Construction of Verkhnedvinsk HPP with a capacity of 13 MW" with a total investment volume of $320 million.
Based on the results of 2012, the region expects to attract foreign direct investment in the amount of about $85 million, of which $40 million are net foreign direct investments. -0-
