The new branded rye-wheat "Karavai Pridvinya" bread, handmade in small batches, is produced by OJSC "Vitebskhlebprom", reported the chief technologist of the enterprise, Tatyana Kovalenko.
When creating the recipe, OJSC "Vitebskhlebprom" technologists used their extensive experience in making scalded bread, the baking traditions of which at the enterprise have been around for almost 40 years, and modern technologies. "Karavai Pridvinya" turned out to be fluffy, soft, aromatic, with a rich sweet and sour taste, and the total weight of this beauty is 2.2 kg.

"This is handmade bread, prepared on a long-fermentation sourdough starter, and the full production cycle takes more than 20 hours. That is why we produce it in small quantities and make three dough batches per shift. For now, we sell it in our branded retail network in sliced form, and whole loaves are baked to order. In St. Petersburg, "Karavai Pridvinya" was appreciated by both the jury and the participants of the "AgroRus-2022" exhibition, which ended recently, so the novelty, fresh from the oven, took a place of honour, receiving a gold medal, which makes us very happy. The loaf also visited Pskov during the Vitebsk Region Days and also received positive feedback from the festival guests," noted Tatyana Kovalenko.

The enterprise produces two types of the new product – an aromatic version with honey and a regular one; spices are also added to both. Whole loaves are decorated with the "Vitebskhlebprom" logo or a Belarusian ornament, and this pattern is preserved on the crispy crust.

The new development by Vitebsk bakers appeared thanks to the initiative of the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Alexander Subbotin. The loaf is intended to become a kind of calling card of the Vitebsk region, as it is planned to be used to welcome delegations from far and near abroad.
