Taekwondo is not as widespread a combat sport as, for example, judo and sambo, but it is no less interesting and exciting, especially for young people. Enthusiasts of this sport gather every Wednesday and Friday evenings in the sports hall of Secondary School No. 3 for general physical training, to improve their tactical and technical actions, and simply to meet with friends, chat, and exchange news.

In November, the section’s trainees took part in an international taekwondo tournament held in the city of Ivano-Frankivsk, Ukraine. At these competitions, they worthily represented Lepel region and our entire country, winning two gold medals. This time, our girls excelled, fighting successfully on the sports grounds and yielding to no one. In “Sparring” in the weight category up to 30 kilograms in the 9-10 year age group, fourth-grader Ksenia Galuza from Secondary School No. 3 took first place, and in the weight category up to 35 kilograms, where girls aged 11-12 competed, sixth-grader Nastya Tukhta from Secondary School No. 1 confidently won.
