Participants of the "Lord of the Village" competition in the Vitebsk region will be tying sheaves and brooms.

On August 28, Vitebsk /Alena Tikhonova - BELTA/. Participants of the regional stage of the "Vlastelin Sela" (Master of the Village) competition in the Vitebsk region will be chopping firewood, making brooms, and frying draniki on August 29. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by the regional committee of the public association "Belarusian Republican Youth Union".

The regional stage of the republican family agricultural project "Vlastelin Sela" will be held at the educational institution "Obol Secondary School named after Hero of the Soviet Union Z.M. Portnova" in Shumilino District. About 20 families, who won their respective regional stages of the competition (about 150 families participated in the qualifying stages), will take part in the contests.

Young families, some of them with 5-6 children, will demonstrate their achievements in agriculture and creativity – delighting with pickles and preserves, and entertaining with songs and dances. After the Belarusian greeting, participants will chop firewood. During the competition, they will need to saw a log, chop firewood, and stack it with jewellery-like precision into a woodpile.

The organisers noted that the "highlight" of this year's "Vlastelin Sela" will be the "Jack of All Trades" competition, where women will be making sheaves, and men – bath brooms. To determine the best rider, participants will need to harness and unharness a horse with a cart in the "Svyatochny Voz" (Festive Cart) competition.

The final stage of the competition will be the "Bulbashy" (Potato Growers) and "Selyanskiye Pris Mackie" (Peasant Delicacies) contests. Families will dig potatoes and prepare the most delicious draniki from them, which can be tasted not only by the jury members but also by anyone who wishes.

The family that wins the regional stage of the competition will compete in the final against the "Masters" from other regions of Belarus. This year, the final stage of the family agricultural project "Vlastelin Sela" will be held in the city of Zhlobin, Gomel Region, as part of the republican festival-fair of village workers "Dazhynki-2013".

The organisers of the regional stage of the competition are the Vitebsk Regional Committee of the PR "BRSM", the Committee for Agriculture and Food of the Regional Executive Committee, the Regional Council of Deputies, the Shumilino District Executive Committee, the Regional Committee of the Trade Union of Workers of the Agro-Industrial Complex, and the Department of Ideological Work, Culture and Youth Affairs of the Regional Executive Committee.-0-
