On April 27, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. The owners of an agro-estate have revived a village in the Polotsk district, Lyudmila Tsareva, head of the information center for rural tourism and recreation - a rural tourism tour operator in the Vitebsk region, told a BELTA correspondent. The small village of Vorobyi disappeared from the maps in 1986. A quarter of a century later, the agro-tourism estate "Matulin Kutok" appeared in its place, and its owners became the initiators of the settlement's revival. Local authorities met them halfway and in 2011 granted it the status of a settlement. True, the village received a new name - Bulavki, but this does not upset the owners - the main thing is that the village exists. According to Lyudmila Tsareva, there is still no electricity in the village with one house, but this does not stop extreme tourists. As it turned out, a kerosene lamp and candles add their own zest to rural recreation. The "Matulin Kutok" estate became one of the 32 estates participating in the regional competition for the best agro-eco-estate of the Vitebsk region. In a fierce competition, six participants won in five nominations. Moreover, for the first time, the jury awarded victory to two contenders at once in the nomination "Preservation of Belarusian Traditions". All winners will represent the Vitebsk region in the republican competition for the best agro-eco-estate. According to the Department of Sports and Tourism, at the beginning of the current year, there were 359 agro-estates operating in the region. In the first quarter of 2012, their number increased by 21. Last year, the estates hosted almost 19.6 thousand tourists, which is 1.5 times more than in 2010. The leaders in organizing "green tourism" are the Braslav, Miory, Rossonsky, Gluboksky, Polotsk and Postavy districts of the region. -0-
