The regional stage of the republican family agricultural project "Master of the Village" will be held on September 24 in Polotsk district, Dmitry Khoma, First Secretary of the Vitebsk Regional Committee of the BRSM, told a BELTA correspondent. It is expected that participants in the competition, which will take place in the agro-town of Novye Goryany, will be representatives of 15 families who have already won the title of "Master of the Village" at the regional stages. To confirm this title at a higher level, contestants will have to demonstrate their skills in handling a plough, a scythe and an axe, and the ability to quickly harness a horse. Participants will try to showcase their talents as brightly as possible in creative tasks. In culinary competitions, housewives will try to surprise the jury members with their delicacies, and their husbands with their ability to handle kitchen utensils. Dmitry Khoma is convinced that young families absolutely need such a competition, "as it strengthens family traditions and values, popularizes agricultural work, and ultimately contributes to the retention of young people in rural areas." The main prize for the winning family team, in addition to vivid impressions and gifts, will be the right to represent Vitebsk region at the republican round of the competition, which will be held in Molodechno at the "Dazhynki" festival-fair of agricultural workers.
