12 March, Polotsk /Svetlana Savko - BELTA/. The authorities of Polotsk will provide accommodation for all guests of the city's 1150th anniversary. This was announced to journalists today by the Chairman of the Polotsk City Executive Committee, Alexander Poznyak, as reported by a BELTA correspondent. Guests arriving for the celebrations on the occasion of Polotsk's 1150th anniversary will be accommodated both in the city itself and in Novopolotsk, as well as in nearby district centres. If necessary, the housing stock of the city's educational institutions will be used. In total, the city authorities are ready to accommodate about 3,000 people. The organisers of the celebrations will arrange transportation for tourists from their accommodation to the celebration venues. Guests arriving by their own car will be fully provided with parking spaces. Currently, the city is being improved by the efforts of housing and communal services, organisations, and the local population, added Alexander Poznyak. According to him, everything necessary for receiving tourists has been prepared in Polotsk. The celebrations dedicated to the 1150th anniversary of Polotsk will take place from 25 May to 5 June. The programme includes an international investment forum, the international scientific and practical conference "Polotsk and the Polotsk Land in the History and Culture of Europe", the medieval culture festival "Rubon", the concert "Masterpieces of Opera Art within the Walls of Ancient Sophia", and other events. The celebration of Polotsk's 1150th anniversary will conclude with a religious procession from the St. Sophia Cathedral to the Transfiguration Church, which will take place on 5 June, the day of remembrance of Saint Euphrosyne of Polotsk.-0-
