An orange level of danger has been declared across the republic for January 14 due to icy conditions. During the night into Tuesday, precipitation (snow, wet snow turning into rain) is expected in the north, and in the morning and afternoon over most of the territory. Icy conditions are anticipated on the roads.
We remind you: operating a vehicle not equipped with winter tires or with tread wear exceeding the maximum permissible limit is prohibited! In such weather, drivers must maintain a safe speed appropriate to the road conditions on the specific section of their route. Particular caution should be exercised, and speed should be reduced in advance in areas where ice may form first due to frequent braking: before pedestrian crossings, speed bumps, public transport stops, railway crossings, etc.
Before travelling, clear your vehicle of snow, especially the windows and lights, fill the windscreen washer fluid reservoir with antifreeze, and ensure the windscreen wipers are functioning. If snow accumulates on them while driving, stop to clear it only in safe locations off the roadway.
Pedestrians are advised to wear high-visibility clothing in precipitation, and to use reflective elements during hours of darkness. Cross the road only at designated crossings, look carefully in all directions, do not obstruct your vision with a hood, and do not use headphones. Even when crossing at a controlled pedestrian crossing, ensure all vehicles have stopped, as the braking distance of vehicles is significantly increased. It is safer to wait for the crossing not closer than one meter from the edge of the roadway.
