From 1 September 2025, you are permitted to remain mounted when crossing the roadway in only three cases:
when travelling along the line of pavements or verges, yielding to other vehicles;when travelling across a cycle crossing equipped with a traffic light for cyclists;
when travelling across a cycle crossing at an intersection or not more than 1 metre from the right edge of the roadway, when permitted by the Traffic Regulations, guided by the requirements of traffic lights or a traffic controller for vehicles, and at an unregulated intersection - by the rules for navigating unregulated intersections and priority road signs.
