12 December, Minsk /BELTA correspondent/. A jeep driver died in Polotsk district as a result of a collision with a semi-trailer that detached from a tractor. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by an duty officer of the Main Traffic Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus. The accident occurred on the 43rd km of the Polotsk-Lepel highway. During movement, the semi-trailer detached from the truck and, ending up in the oncoming lane, crashed into a Great Wall jeep. As a result of the incident, the driver, born in 1969, died, and a passenger was injured and taken to the hospital. The reason for the semi-trailer detaching from the tractor is currently being established. In total, over the past 24 hours, 17 registered road traffic accidents occurred, in which 4 people died and 17 were injured. In addition, last Sunday, traffic police officers detained 186 drunk drivers. -0-
