Sustained hot weather across our country encourages active recreation for citizens on water bodies. However, as water-related fatalities statistics show, not everyone remembers the rules of conduct in such places, and many ignore them altogether.

Since the beginning of the current year, Lepel district has registered an increase in drowning fatalities – three cases compared to zero last year.
In order to stabilize the situation regarding water-related fatalities in the district, a special preventive event "Water Watch" will be organized from June 24 to July 01.
As part of the event, rescuers, together with representatives of OSVOD (the Belarusian Voluntary Society for the Rescue of Persons on Water) and employees of internal affairs bodies, will conduct raids on local water bodies, reminding citizens about the rules of safe behavior on water.
Rescuers urge everyone to observe safety measures: swim only in specially equipped areas and do not leave children unattended near water bodies. Remember that your safety is primarily your responsibility!
