On September 29, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. A serviceman of military unit 5524 of the Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus, Evgeny Chernoguzov, and a female teacher saved a Vitebsk resident from suicide on September 28.
As Evgeny Chernoguzov told a BELTA correspondent, while returning home after duty on a fixed-route taxi, he saw a young man aged 20-25 climbing over the railings of the Shmyrev Bridge over the Luchesa River with the intention of jumping. Of all the passers-by on the bridge at that moment, only one girl tried to stop the suicide victim, who later turned out to be a defectologist at one of the city's schools. The reaction of the internal troops serviceman was instantaneous: stopping the minibus (at the request of the uniformed person, the driver braked immediately), he rushed to help.
Seeing the approaching serviceman, the young man on the bridge began to shout for him to stop. It was not possible to start a conversation with him, as the young man still jumped off the bridge. Evgeny quickly descended to the water and began to pull out the body of the victim, with the help of one of the fishermen nearby. The girl, meanwhile, called an ambulance.
Fortunately, the young man was saved. "The guy was lucky: having jumped from a considerable height, he could have hit the bottom, as the depth in this place was only about a meter," noted Evgeny.
Currently, the young man is in the Vitebsk Regional Hospital, and his motives are yet to be determined by doctors and police officers.
Evgeny Chernoguzov was awarded a prize, and information about his actions was passed on by his superiors to higher management.-0-
