Tonight, an Il-76MD military transport aircraft arrived in Belarus from China at the Machulishchi airfield. The aircraft delivered the Chinese vaccine SARS-CoV-2 Vaccine (Vero Cell), Inactivated by Sinopharm. The total route length was 13.6 thousand km.
"The Belarusian pilots were met by Dmitry Alkhovik, Chief Physician of the Republican Centre for Medical Response of the Ministry of Health, and representatives of RUP "Belpharmatsiya". Colonel Andrey Lukyanovich, Commander of the 50th Mixed Aviation Base of the Air Force and Air Defence Troops of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus, was also welcomed on the ground by representatives of the BRSM – they presented the crew with flowers and expressed words of gratitude for the assistance rendered by the pilots to medical workers during the COVID-19 pandemic," the Ministry of Health added.
In total, 1.5 million doses of the SARS-CoV-2 Vaccine (Vero Cell), Inactivated by Sinopharm arrived in Belarus – this quantity was purchased from China by the Ministry of Health of Belarus. The Chinese side also handed over 500,000 doses of the vaccine and 500,000 syringes to Belarus as foreign gratuitous aid. Representatives of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and the embassies of the two countries actively assisted the Ministry of Health of Belarus in resolving this issue. Employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Belarus received and escorted the aid, and cadets of the department unloaded the aircraft of the Ministry of Defence upon arrival.
"It is planned that the vaccine will be delivered to the regions and Minsk after it passes quality control by the Republican Scientific and Practical Centre of Epidemiology and Microbiology, and the syringes will receive registration from the Centre for Expertise and Trials in Healthcare," the Ministry of Health clarified.
