A plenary session will be held today, opened by a report from the Minister of Defence of Belarus, Lieutenant-General Yuri Zhadobin. He will speak on the topic "Development of Soviet Military Art during military operations on the territory of Belarus: origins and outcomes of Operation Bagration". In addition, unique archival and museum materials, and military literature will be exhibited in the building of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.

On June 20, the conference participants will work in four sections: "Problems of Historiography and Source Studies of the Great Patriotic War. The War in the Historical Memory of the People", "Soviet Military Art during the Great Patriotic War", "The Nazi Occupation Regime. The Partisan Movement and Underground Struggle in the Occupied Territory of Belarus", "Belarus in the System of International Relations. Restoration of the National Economy of the BSSR".

The conference "Belarus: Memorable Summer of 1944" is organised by the National Academy of Sciences and the Ministry of Defence on the eve of a significant date - the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders. In addition to scientists and archivists from Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, and Poland, representatives of state administration bodies, the Institute of National Security, the National Archives of Belarus, military and civilian higher education institutions, and veteran organisations of the country will participate in the event. Representatives of the Ministry of Defence, the General Staff, the Air Force and Air Defence Forces, operational (operational-tactical) commands, military units and institutions of the Belarusian army, the Research Institute of the Armed Forces, and the Military Academy of Belarus will participate in the conference from the Armed Forces.

Delegations from the Russian Academy of Military Sciences, the Research Center (scientific supervisor of the fundamental multi-volume work "The Great Patriotic War 1941–1945"), the Armed Forces of Russia, the International Center for Geopolitical Analysis, the Russian Military Historical Society, and delegations from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan have arrived in Belarus to participate in the forum. Military (naval) attachés from Vietnam, Kazakhstan, Lithuania, Poland, Russia, and Syria have confirmed their participation in the forum. -0-
