Housing provision for WWII veterans in the Vitebsk region to be resolved in early 2014 - V. Terentyev

December 10, Vitebsk /Alyona Tikhonova - BELTA/. All issues of providing housing for veterans of the Great Patriotic War in the Vitebsk region will be resolved in early 2014. This was stated by Vladimir Terentyev, Deputy Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, at a meeting of the organizing committee for the preparation of the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders, a BELTA correspondent reports.

"It is our sacred duty to create comfortable and dignified living conditions for every veteran. In the region, seven people are registered as needing improved housing conditions. We need to create conditions so that they feel like complete victors," said the deputy chairman of the executive committee.

He emphasized that medical care issues also require close attention. "Daily monitoring needs to be established here, and if necessary, veterans should be transferred to an inpatient facility. This is especially true for those living in rural areas," noted Vladimir Terentyev.

The organizing committee meeting also discussed issues of providing one-time financial assistance to veterans of the Great Patriotic War and certain categories of citizens affected by the consequences of the war in connection with the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders. According to preliminary data, more than 10,000 people in the Vitebsk region will receive assistance by the anniversary date.-0-
