On July 20, Vitebsk /Diana Kurilo - BELTA/. Eight citizens who declared their party affiliation have submitted documents for the registration of initiative groups to the district election commissions for the election of deputies to the fifth convocation House of Representatives in the Vitebsk region, the deputy head of the organizational and personnel work department of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Leonid Dorofeenko, told a BELTA correspondent.
Documents for the registration of an initiative group are submitted by a citizen who intends to nominate themselves as a candidate for deputy by collecting signatures. A total of 52 applications have been submitted to the 14 district commissions formed in the region, with four applications each from the Belarusian Left Party "A Just World" and the Belarusian People's Front party.
District election commissions are obliged to make a decision on registration within a five-day period, Leonid Dorofeenko recalled. Members of a registered initiative group receive corresponding certificates and signature sheets. Collectors need to collect at least one thousand signatures from voters residing in the territory of the constituency for which the prospective candidate for deputy is nominated.
Work on the formation of polling stations is ongoing in the Vitebsk region. They have already been formed in Beshenkovichsky, Braslavsky, Verkhnedvinsky, Gluboksky, Dokshitsky, Dubrovensky, Lepelsky, and Miorsky districts.
The nomination of candidates for deputies to the House of Representatives will continue until August 13 inclusive. The registration of contenders for a seat in parliament will take place from August 14 to August 23 inclusive. Then, the campaign period will start in Belarus. The main election day is September 23. -0-
