2 December, Orsha /Diana Kurilo - BELTA/. The first 18 enterprises in the Vitebsk region have received recommendations from medical professionals on reducing the incidence of illness among their employees. The recommendations are the result of a medical examination conducted in November at enterprises and organizations in Orsha, as reported today at an off-site meeting of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee's Healthcare Department by the head of the regional healthcare department, Yuri Derkach, according to a BELTA correspondent.
A distinguishing feature of this examination, compared to routine medical check-ups, was that medical teams, comprising doctors of various specialities as well as lecturers from Vitebsk State Medical University, visited enterprises, organizations, and educational institutions for a comprehensive health assessment of employees and students. In addition, medical professionals monitored the sanitary and hygienic conditions of workplaces.
Approximately 2,000 people participated in the medical check-ups, with 600 individuals receiving inpatient treatment in Orsha, Vitebsk, and republican clinics following in-depth medical examinations. During the examination, doctors were able to identify pathologies of the circulatory system, respiratory organs, and early-stage oncological diseases.
The largest number of practically healthy employees work at OJSC "Orshaagroprommash" and Orsha Tool Plant, while the smallest number work at Orsha Aircraft Repair Plant and the sewing enterprise "Svitanok".
Based on the data obtained during the medical check-ups and workplace monitoring, enterprise administrations have received recommendations on the measures necessary to improve the health status of their employees. Doctors consider it necessary to provide financial incentives for quitting bad habits, compensate for the costs of sports and recreation facility memberships, and rent halls for amateur sports activities. Managers have been instructed to ensure the temperature regime in workshops, provide employees with warm workwear, and implement flu vaccinations.
It should be noted that some enterprises have already begun to implement the recommendations. For example, "Svitanok" brought 40 workplaces into compliance with lighting standards, replaced window units to maintain the necessary microclimate, and paid for 10 vouchers for sanatorium and resort treatment for its employees. Orsha Flax Mill has introduced monetary incentives for employees who do not have sick leave during the year and is taking measures to modernize the ventilation system for the prevention of respiratory diseases.
As Yury Derkach emphasized, work on the medical examination of the working-age population will continue throughout the Vitebsk region, and all large enterprises and organizations, secondary vocational and higher education institutions will receive recommendations. The main goal of this work is to make quality medicine accessible and instill in citizens a commitment to treatment, which will contribute to the implementation of the demographic security program.
Despite the fact that positive trends in the development of demographic processes have emerged in the region, the rate of population decline has slowed down, and the mortality rate among the working-age population has decreased, medical professionals are concerned about the mortality rates among the working-age population.-0-
