On January 13, during a reception on the occasion of the Old New Year, the Head of State Alexander Lukashenko emphasised the unity of Belarusians in eliminating the consequences of heavy snowfall, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.

Addressing the attendees, the President said: "In essence, we all serve the Fatherland, moving Belarus forward through concrete actions in the economy, education, healthcare, culture, sports, and public administration. This is daily work." Alexander Lukashenko stressed that representatives of all the categories listed did not rest during the holidays; they were on duty.

"I particularly liked your initiative in clearing snow from our country. Journalists presented it somewhat jokingly. But there is a significant grain of truth in this joke. This is how we should always be – united. Not whining, not moaning (there were a few, of course, but there were some)," stated the Head of State.

Alexander Lukashenko urged everyone to fully appreciate the joy of truly winter weather, as such conditions are not a yearly occurrence in Belarus. "I would like to address parents and ask them: go out into the snow with your children! Let them remember this winter. The climate has changed, as you know. And it is not a fact that next year or sometime later there will be such wonderful winters. This is a real winter, which the Lord has given us on the eve of the New Year and after it," said the President.
