2 June, Minsk /BELTA/. Passenger rail service between Belarus and Latvia has been resumed. This was reported to BELTA by the press service of Belarusian Railways. This morning, a train of Latvian Railways arrived in Minsk from Riga, and a train of Belarusian formation arrived in the Latvian capital. Rail service between Belarus and Latvia has been resumed on a parity basis with Latvian Railways, Belarusian Railways noted. Along with regular passengers, a delegation of the Latvian Ministry of Transport, headed by the ministry's State Secretary Anrijs Matiss, arrived in Minsk today on the train. In connection with the resumption of passenger rail service between the two countries, representatives of Latvian Railways, the Latvian company L-EKSPRESIS, which specialises in servicing international trains, as well as Latvian journalists also arrived on the first trip to the capital of Belarus. The media representatives will be acquainted with the tourism potential of Belarus, the operation and development prospects of the passenger complex of Belarusian Railways. The Minsk-Riga train service resumed with the introduction of the passenger train schedule in interstate traffic for 2011-2012 on the Belarusian railway network. During the summer period, the train in this direction will run daily. It will depart from Minsk at 20:07 and arrive in Riga at 8:00 in the morning. Its departure time from Riga will be 19:00, and arrival in the capital of Belarus - 7:31. During the winter period, the frequency of service will be reduced to twice a week - the train will depart from Minsk and from Riga on Fridays and Sundays.-0-
