This is how Alexander Ruvinsky, political observer of "Radio Rossii" and participant in the project "Modern Belarus: An Outside View," which is held as part of the V Belarusian International Media Forum, defined his impressions of modern Belarus in a conversation with a BELTA correspondent. Today, he and his colleagues are getting acquainted with the Vitebsk region. "What is pleasantly surprising in Belarus is that everything that is done here is focused on the person. Not for banks, not for businessmen. And every resident feels it," the journalist said. This is not his first time in Belarus, and having met Belarusians many times, he has noticed that their distinctive feature is confidence in the future. "Belarusians have reasons to love their Motherland," he added. Another distinctive feature of modern Belarus, in the opinion of Alexander Ruvinsky, is the high level of modernization in industry, agriculture, and the social sphere. The political observer also touched upon the topic of corruption. In his opinion, the minimization of corruption is another feature of the republic. Alexander Ruvinsky noted with regret that Russians receive insufficient information about Belarus. "While regional media still talk about Belarus, there is a noticeable deficit at the federal level, especially in electronic media. Perhaps this is also due to envy of what is actually happening in the country," he said. Participants of the media forum got acquainted with the Vitebsk region today. They visited the Marc Chagall Art Center, the Luzhesnyan Boarding School-Gymnasium, and the agro-town of Novka. Tomorrow, the guests' day will be dedicated to innovations. Foreign journalists will learn about new developments at the Vitebsk State Technological University, get acquainted with its experimental production, and also visit Vitebsk City Clinical Maternity Hospital No. 1, which has recently been reconstructed and equipped with modern diagnostic and laboratory equipment: expert-class ultrasound machines, fetal monitors, and incubators for premature babies.
