In 2003, the International Labour Organization established the World Day for Safety and Health at Work, which is celebrated annually on April 28.

The Day for Safety and Health at Work is intended to draw the attention of the public and government structures to the problems associated with workplace accidents and occupational diseases, to occupational safety and the fates of people injured or killed at work.

In all regions of the world, governments, trade union organizations, employers, and occupational safety and health specialists organize events for the World Day for Safety and Health at Work: seminars, round tables, conferences, quizzes, safety months, drawing contests, etc.

Each year the themes (mottos and slogans) change, but they are all related to ensuring and maintaining the safety of people at work.

Currently, the entire world community is facing unprecedented challenges due to the coronavirus. The pandemic has affected almost all aspects of the world of work, from the risk of virus transmission in the workplace to risks in occupational safety and health.

Therefore, the World Day for Safety and Health at Work in 2021 is dedicated to strategies for strengthening national occupational safety and health systems to enhance resilience to crises now and in the future, drawing on lessons learned and global experience.

The theme of the World Day for Safety and Health at Work in 2021 is: Anticipate the crisis and be prepared for it – INVEST NOW IN ADEQUATE OSH SYSTEMS

Based on the foregoing, we recommend that all organizations located in the Lepel district hold events dedicated to the World Day for Safety and Health at Work - 2021.

Forms of conducting the Day for Safety and Health at Work in your organization:

– measures to improve occupational safety and health management systems and workplace risk assessment;

- revision of occupational safety and health instructions;

– inspection of structural divisions (departments, sections, etc.) to verify the actual state of working conditions and occupational safety and health, with the compilation of an act;

- issuance of a final document (order, directive) based on the results of the inspection of structural divisions, indicating measures to eliminate identified shortcomings and their funding sources;

- conducting lectures,

seminars, preventive discussions with employees on electrical safety, first aid provision for those injured at work, etc.;

– conducting various events on production culture, inspections and contests for the best organisation of labour protection in structural divisions;

– implementation of positive experience in creating healthy and safe working conditions at each workplace;

– holding meetings of the work collective (structural division) to discuss the state of working conditions and labour protection, the fulfillment of collective agreement clauses, employees' compliance with the requirements of laws and regulatory legal acts on labour protection, and other matters;

– setting up "Labour Protection" stands (corners);

– conducting surveys among employees on labour protection issues: "question-answer", "trust box";

– producing wall newspapers and promotional materials on labour protection issues;

– carrying out charitable campaigns, for example: providing personal financial support or specific assistance to former employees released due to injury; to current employees in need;

We propose to summarise the results of the World Day for Safety and Health at Work during a meeting of the organisation's labour protection commission, with the drawing up of minutes and the identification of the best structural divisions, managers, and employees in the field of labour protection.

We recommend that the results of the World Day for Safety and Health at Work be communicated to all employees of your organisation.
