Meeting with a Deputy

Ihar Martynau, a Member of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, met with residents of the village of Veleŭshchyna.

The villagers complained to the people's representative about the closure of the postal service branch in this large rural settlement, which was previously the centre of the local collective farm. Ihar Felixavich explained that optimisation is currently underway throughout our country, as it is an acute necessity. As an example, he cited the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus, which have decreased from several hundred thousand people to 65,000 over the past decades without compromising the defence capability of the Belarusian state. This was achieved by improving qualitative indicators. Our army has become more compact, professional, and comprehensively trained, equipped with the most modern equipment and armaments, which allow it to stop any aggressor's advance and inflict a devastating defeat on them.

During the meeting with Ihar Martynau, the residents of Veleŭshchyna primarily expressed their dissatisfaction that with the closure of the post office in the village, they lost the ability to pay in real-time via computer for communal services, electricity, previously obtained bank loans that need to be paid within strictly defined deadlines, as well as for interactive television, internet, and telephone services, etc.

The meeting was attended by the Deputy Chairman of the District Executive Committee, Viktor Azaronak, and the Head of the District Postal Communication Unit, Pyotr Zharnasek. The officials, together with the villagers, sought ways to resolve the problems. Ultimately, everyone present was satisfied with the arrangement that a postal vehicle would visit Veleŭshchyna twice a week and accept payments for one hour at a designated time.

The Head of the District Postal Communication Unit, Pyotr Zharnasek, promised the villagers that he would find the necessary one-hour "slots" in the extremely busy schedule of the postal vehicle's work so that it could serve the residents of Veleŭshchyna twice a week.
