This opinion was expressed to a BELTA correspondent by Vladimir Potupchik, Deputy Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus, who held a personal reception of citizens at the Slonim District Executive Committee today. Nine people attended the reception with the parliamentarian. Their questions concerned various spheres and life situations – housing construction, allocation of service housing, purchase of vouchers for foreign health resorts, a resident of Slonim was dissatisfied with the investigation into the death of her son, some came with collective issues regarding improvements near their homes, etc. A number of appeals turned out to be pressing issues, i.e. when lengthy correspondence had been conducted, parties argued, but could not reach a compromise solution. According to Vladimir Potupchik, protracted issues are often evidence that life requires adjustments to current regulatory acts and the definition of correct law enforcement practices. "I do not want to say that today there are issues requiring prompt resolution, taking into account amendments to laws," the parliamentarian noted. "However, there is a need to understand those points that lie at the intersection of several regulatory acts and to help those who have encountered problems because of this." In particular, this concerns the situation of a military pensioner with a question about pension assignment. Two laws apply to his specific case. A solution to the specific problem within the framework of current legislation will be found through the interaction of the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection. And if necessary, in the future, work will be done on the unification of regulatory acts. Today, Vladimir Potupchik also visited OJSC "Slonim Worsted Spinning Mill" and held a meeting with the enterprise's work collective.-0-
