The admission campaign to vocational lyceums and vocational-technical colleges begins today in Belarus, the press centre of the Ministry of Education informed BELTA.
Admissions will be carried out by 146 vocational education institutions for 251 professions. In addition, documents can be submitted for training in working professions to 49 educational institutions of other levels that implement vocational education training programmes. Klichev State Agrarian-Technical College offers training in in-demand professions such as agricultural machinery and equipment repair fitter, agricultural production tractor driver-machinist, and vehicle driver.
In 2017, it is planned to admit 29.9 thousand people for vocational education, including 29.7 thousand funded by the budget. It is planned to enroll 27.8 thousand people for full-time study, of whom 16.9 thousand will be based on general basic education, 10.2 thousand on general secondary education, and 700 on special education. Admissions of 800 people for part-time study and 1.3 thousand for evening study are planned.
To improve the structure of training, taking into account the changing needs of regional labour markets, it is planned to cease admissions for 216 in-demand professions in 2017 and to open training for 145 new professions for individual vocational education institutions.
For the first time in 2017, recruitment will be carried out for 5 new professions: electromechanic for automation means and technological equipment instruments (Gomel State Vocational-Technical College of Electrical Engineering), building and facility maintenance worker (Minsk State Vocational-Technical College of Construction and Public Utilities), digital printing operator (V.Z. Khoruzhy Minsk State Vocational-Technical College of Printing), body repairer (Minsk State Vocational Lyceum No. 3 of Machine Building), and curd maker (Slutsk State College).
The Ministry noted that admission conditions have not changed compared to the previous year.
